PROFOTECH in RuGrids-Electro

20 October 2014

Profotech participated in the 1st International Power forum RuGrids-Electro that was held on October, 15-17 in Moscow Krasnaya Presnya Expocenter. This event is Russian largest power industry platform as for demonstration domestic and foreign innovative technologies and developments in power sector, as to discuss problems and long-term development strategies of power industry, to exchange experience and to establish interaction between participants and state authorities. The exhibition-forum was organized by JSC “Rosseti”.

General manager of CJSC “Profotech” O.V. Rudakov made a report called “Innovations in power grids digitalization” on the forum session named “Modern science is a driver of power industry development: where brand new fundamental solutions will come from?”

It’s worth noting that nowdays a period of modernization and active development of digitalized substation technology is coming, fully digital measurements are its fundamental part. The growing demand for instrument transformers made by Profotech both from domestic and foreign leading companies (Siemens, Maxwell, ABB) just proves this point.

On the booth of “Energostroy M.N.” at the “Digitalized substation” exposition zone CJSC “Profotech” demonstrated its digital optical instrument transformers that are an alternative to conventional instrument transformers. They are used to make high-accuracy measurements of instantaneous current, voltage and their phase characteristics, to transmit measurement data via a digital protocol to secondary equipment – revenue meters, telemetric devices, power quality control devices, relay protection and automation equipment. Digital fiber-optical instrument transformers guarantee fully digital measurements with minimum possible error at present time. Digital optical instrument transformers are the foundation of a digitalized substation.

On the booth of LISIS LLC a total solution designed by Profotech and LISIS was demonstrated, its application is automation of substations by “digitalized substation” technology. The foundation of the solution proposed by both companies is the rearrangement of architecture of substation protection and control systems based on digital data processing. The solution consists of digital fiber-optical current and voltage instrument transformers made by CJSC “Porfotech” and a software package that performs all protection and control functions of the substation and operates on the universal server platforms, designed by LISIS LLC. On august 2014, this total solution was demonstrated at CIGRE International Exhibition in Paris. In Russia it was the first live demonstration of the solution.
