Confirmed interoperability of PROFOTECH and Siemens equipment opens new possibilities for our international business development

7 March 2017

Compatibility of Profotech equipment with Siemens technology is now officially confirmed, that opens new possibilities for overseas promotion of our products.

Two above-mentioned Companies have together performed series of tests that demonstrated the interoperability of Profotech unconventional (fiber-optic) current and voltage instrument transformers connected to Siemens digital protection devices via process bus. Both Russian manufacturer and International supplier are thus taking technology in energy automation a step closer to commercial deployment.

One of the greatest outcomes was the ensured interoperability so that the connected devices could successfully communicate together without error regardless of the manufacturer. In the case of Profotech's optical current and voltage instrument transformers, the current and voltage values can now be transmitted digitally in the form of digital sampled values from the primary system via the process bus to the secondary system. There they are further processed in smart terminals such as protection devices or energy meters.

The trend toward greater digitalization is not only technology-driven, it is creating possibilities for realizing new ideas and concepts that offer more than the previously used technologies for everyone involved. This includes, for example, increased capabilities for equipment monitoring and enables transition to the concept of on-demand maintenance.

Confirmed compatibility of equipment opens the possibility for cooperative projects, so both Companies can offer to their Clients combined solutions which are basing on the latest standards and the most modern technology.
